From Where I Stand
The fields are brown, the crops are dead
Hungry birds circle overhead
Not many signs of life from where I stand
It’s almost never crystal clear
We take what comes, year after year
We hope and pray there is a master plan
Are these the times to search our souls
The lightning flashes, thunder rolls
The morning sky is nearly dark as night
Filled with wonder, fear and doubt
There must be a path, some way out
From where I stand, love is the only light
CHORUS
Up ahead is clear as day
The road behind just fades away
From dust we come to dust we’ll go some day
This is where I’ll stand my ground
While days and seasons swirl around
From where I stand it’s love that guides my way
The sun is setting, the trees have grown
It’s not so dark when you’re not alone
A small hand reaches out, takes hold of mine
Do we measure love by how we feel
Or is only what we share what’s real
From where I stand it’s love that seems divine
From where I stand it’s love that seems divine
From where I stand for worse for good
Forever hope for whatever should
Do we run from fear or try to face it down
For liberty, for God we sing
Does this fair land have a queen or king
From where I stand it’s love that wears the crown
From where I stand it’s love that wears the crown
I stand alone in the pouring rain
Did I live in love, did I love in vain?
The laughter of a child fills my ears
Is anything really what it seems?
Are my beliefs just crazy dreams?
From where I stand love will dry my tears
From where I stand love will dry my tears
