Candlelight

A candle flickers in a sudden breeze
Like silent dancers the shadows leap
From wall to wall they twirl and tease
Such perfect beauty born of darkness deep

I see the world by candelight
In a silent room a single flame
From the window glass, reflections bright
Like precious jewels, scattered like rain

My heart is like the room, your love the only light
It finds me in my solitude like morning finds the night
Thunder in the distance, the smell of evening rain
Is the night too long? Is the wind too strong?
Will our love die like the flame?
