The Lights of Love

Was it my imagination or did I see a light
Shining through the space between our eyes it was so bright
It's been only darkness in here for so long
And I wouldn't have said a word about it but it was so strong
Is it just disappointment in another cruel disguise
Or did I see the lights of love shining in your eyes
Did I see the lights of love shining in your eyes

I'm one of those who's waiting, one who still believes
That love is a kind of magic, where to give is to receive
So I'll fan this tiny flame with all of my heart
And hope the love I thought I saw has a chance to make a start
For hoping and loving are pathways for the wise
And I thought I saw the lights of love shining in your eyes
I thought I saw the lights of love shining in your eyes

Like a man lost at sea who spies a distant shore
Like a pool of bright blue water on a blazing desert floor
Like the weary traveler sees the lights of his home town
I caught a glimpse of something bright like a diamond in the ground
